ROWE & RELAXATION
The event was lovely.
I took a seat on the patio overlooking the white-sand beaches and shining Gulf waters. From here I could see lush green palm trees swaying in the breeze, sea birds landing gently upon the salty surf, and a number of shitty bathing suits sprawled out by the pool.
It was incredibly relaxing.
Truth be told, if I wasn’t a guest at this event, I would have taken a nap right there in my speedo and given no fucks about it. But I was a guest at this event, so I decided to be a gentleman, keep my clothes on, and explore the grounds instead.
Since it opened in 1928, the Don CeSar remains one of the most notable landmarks in Tampa Bay and the Gulf Coast region. Its sandcastle-like towers and Art Deco allure make it the perfect setting for weddings and surf-side sunsets.
Today the resort features a spa, a fitness center, two pools, six dining areas, an ice cream parlor, a mermaid touch tank, Jaws, a cyborg Jacques Cousteau, and the entire cast of Waterworld.
Just kidding… mostly.
I snuck away to the rooftop deck for a better lay of the land and was blinded by the birds-eye view. From where I stood, I could see miles of undulating foamy waves breaking along the sand in perfect syncopation.
Seals and Crofts would have been very proud.
